new kicks

I have been meaning to get B some walking shoes since he has been full time walking for two weeks now. But between work and his birthday party, I couldn't seem to find the time to get to Buckle My Shoe to purchase them (did I mention Buckle My Shoe is about two miles from our house - I know, bad momma, right?). I promised myself and Buggy that we would go as soon as his 1st birthday party was over and just in time for his first day of Mom's Day Out.

This past weekend Lindsay and John came to stay with us for B's birthday party and also the arrival of my sweet second cousin, Hutton! Lou Lou, B and myself made a Target run on Saturday morning to look for maternity clothes (for Linds, not me). While we were there we decided to browse the shoes, too. I mean, why not, right? That's what Target is for. You go in to buy laundry detergent and come out a hundred dollars in the hole. They suck you in and you fall into the trap of 'I have to have this'. Anywho, back to the shoe section. As we were browsing I found these orange and navy baby shoes. Now, I never imagined my first pair of shoes, or any shoes for that matter, to buy B would be orange and blue. I'm an Auburn fan and all, but not the type of fan that dresses head to toe in 2010 National Championship gear. Well, I don't know what it was about those shoes... not sure if it was the orange and blue blood running through my veins for game day (just a lil sarcasm) or the fact that B was wearing the cutest Auburn Football outfit ever made and had to have shoes that matched. I'm going to say it had to have been the outfit matching the shoes to justify the $12.99. I know, cheap, right? For a pair of shoes that he probably won't wear and tear right off his feet. And most likely won't even be able to walk in. That was where I got sucked in... 'He just had to have these.' So Lou Lou helped me justify the purchase by reminding me that we would be going to the hospital shortly, and with B, to wait the arrival of sweet baby Hutton. And we couldn't take the newest member of the walking club to the hospital without shoes on his chubby little feet. All he wants to do is wiggle out of your arms and walk and walk and touch things and walk and fall and get up and walk and touch more things, etc. You get the picture. So there we were on the Target floor shoving these orange and blue shoes on B's feet, as he found it hilarious at the struggle we went through to squeeze him into them. And I must say... they truly completed the outfit - it was meant to be!

He had a little trouble getting used to them, at first, picking up his knees as high as he could and then tripping to the ground every few steps. For the first hour he really did more crawling than walking. But he was a trooper and figured it out best he could. So, good thing we got the shoes... First reason being Auburn won the game against Mississippi State (it must've been the shoes) and second... Buggy was ALL OVER that hospital floor, not staying in our arms for a second :)
