With the help of family and friends, we were able to complete the nursery just in time. My parents and aunt started the process by coming over on a weekend (so sweet) and scraping popcorn ceilings. It was quite a mess, but really updated the look of the rooms upstairs. The we hired my cousin and his wife to paint the upstairs rooms a simple white. It really opened up the space to many possibilities. Then the new carpet was installed. After all this work was completed, Jon and I started thinking about furniture. One of my favorite pieces in his room is an old dresser that I picked up several years ago at Goodwill. We (well I should say Jon did the labor and I supervised) painted the dresser with a crackled, weather look to get an antiqued effect. We were so pleased with the way it turned out. It really complimented the antique white crib. Once the furniture was placed in the nursery, I started thinking about the smaller details. Over the course of a few months, we made several sweet and unique pieces to decorate our baby boy's new room. Once I had everything ready, one of my closest friends came over and helped me with the final touches on the nursery. Jon and I were both so happy with the results.
During the last few weeks of the pregnancy, we both found ourselves going upstairs day dreaming of the day we would carry our baby into the nursery. We just couldn't wait to introduce him to his new home : ) It was made with so much love.
